Bulk Water Loading Station Class Environmental Assessment (EA)
The Municipality of Brighton has identified a need to replace its current Bulk Water Loading Station, currently located on Pinnacle Street as shown on the attached map. A Class Environmental Assessment (EA) has been initiated to determine a preferred location for the proposed Bulk Water Loading Station. One option for consideration is on Sharp Road, in the Brighton Industrial Park.
The class EA includes evaluation of viable alternative solutions, identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts, and the selection of a preferred location. The preferred location will be based on environmental and natural resources, feasibility, costs, and integration with existing infrastructure.
This project is being planned in accordance with the requirements for a Schedule “B” Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA). The class EA process includes consultation with the public and review agencies, an evaluation of viable alternatives solutions, an assessment of the impacts of the alternative solutions, identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts, and the selection of a preferred solution.
Public and external agency consultation is a key component of this Study. Details regarding the project will be presented at a Public Information Centre (PIC) to provide interested stakeholders with an opportunity to meet the Project Team and to discuss alternative solutions, environmental considerations/impacts, evaluation criteria, and design options. The PIC will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, between 4pm and 6pm in the King Edward Park Community Centre at 75 Elizabeth Street, Brighton, Ontario.
