EVENT UPDATE: NO PET BY-LAW IN EFFECT AT APPLEFEST
Brighton Council has passed a No-Pets By-Law for this year's Applefest.
A recommendation to Council was made by the Applefest Steering Committee on January 17th, 2024, to enact a Pet By Law for the day of Applefest.
This recommendation was made by the Committee to Council after several years of attempting to enforce the Applefest No-Pets Policy in conjunction with security partners without a formal By-Law. It has been put in place for the safety of both visitors and animals.
Service animals with official paperwork are exempt from this By-Law.
The By-Law will be in effect and enforced on the Saturday of Applefest from 6:00am to 11:00pm in the following locations:
- The Street Fair on Main Street from Prince Edward Street to Victoria Street
- Music in the Park in Memorial Park (includes adjacent Kinglsey/Sanford Street, Veterans Way, and County Road 2),
- The Children's Village in King Edward Park, 75 Elizabeth Street,
- The Car Show at Brighton Public School, 24 Elizabeth Street and,
- Brighton Fire Station #1, 20 Elizabeth Street
There is a $250.00 fine for individuals who host or escort an animal to Applefest, provide a false statement or information to enforcement officers and/or hinder, obstruct directly or indirectly enforcement officers.
This By-Law will be in effect each year in perpetuity.
