Brighton Digital Archives |
Launched as a volunteer team in 2015, the Brighton Digital Archives (BDA) is dedicated to the identification, collection, digitization, and presentation of Brighton’s history and heritage. Through an active website and Facebook page, the BDA shares Brighton’s past, including documents, deeds, photos, postcards, and maps. Additionally, the BDA produces original content video in the Brighton I Remember, Dan the History Guy, and Memory Junction series.
During COVID restrictions, the BDA also assisted several community groups including virtual Canada Day celebrations, Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre’s Walk a Mile, the Brighton Legion, and Brighton Army Cadet Remembrance Day Vigil, Brighton’s Christmas message, and the Accessibility Committee.
All original documents are provided to the BDA as a temporary loan, digitized, and returned to the owner. On several occasions, the BDA has assisted with donations of maps, deeds, and photos to the Municipality of Brighton.
In 2023, the BDA became a sub-committee under the Brighton Library Board.
