The Municipality of Brighton has launched a comprehensive Official Plan and Zoning By-Law Review Project to evaluate, update, and align the Municipality’s key planning policy framework that guides land use, development, and community design. This project will extend from 2025 through 2027, and represents a strategic opportunity for the community to shape the long-term direction of growth and change in Brighton.
An Official Plan is the principal policy document that articulates Brighton’s vision for land use, housing, infrastructure, environmental protection, economic development, and community character. A Zoning By-Law implements the Official Plan by setting specific regulations for land uses, building form, location, and development standards.
The Official Plan and Zoning By-Law are critical planning tools used by Council and staff to make consistent and well-informed decisions about land use and development in Brighton:
