Message from Mayor Brian Ostrander
On behalf of Brighton’s Municipal Council, welcome to Brighton’s website.
We are proud of our community with its natural and built heritage, the dedication of our volunteers, and everything our local businesses have to offer. We hope you will enjoy your time with us. You won't be disappointed. Brighton is the perfect community in which to live, work, play and invest!
It remains my great privilege and honour to be the Mayor of such a caring and progressive community and look forward to working with Council on initiatives that will carry us forward - initiatives that will allow us to prosper well into the future. There is no doubt that what Brighton wants most from your Council is progress and stability and we look forward to delivering.
There is no place like home, and whether Brighton is where you are from, where you have chosen or where you are visiting, I hope you feel at home.

Since 1992, Brian has worked in the printing and publishing business, building business relationships and working to find new opportunities for business development in an industry that is in flux. Brian was first elected to Brighton Council in 2003. He has taken an active role in community development, sitting on and chairing an array of boards and committees that reflect the needs and character of the community; from public safety to culture to planning. Brian works to drive consensus and bring people together. Brian is married to Tammy, a local educator, and they have two grown daughters, Kaitlyn and Megan.

Deputy Mayor Ron Anderson
Ron Anderson has served as a Brighton Councillor for the past four years. Newly Elected as Deputy Mayor, Ron brings a balanced approach with integrity to meet today's challenges.
Anderson's family has made Brighton home for over 42 years. He was educated in Toronto for Hospitality & Tourism and Management. He was further certified through the Canadian Securities Institute as a Financial Advisor following a very successful and enjoyable career in Hotel Management for over 40 years with International Hotels and Resorts in Toronto, Banff and primarily here in the Quinte Region.
Ron is proud of his long-time Volunteer work in the region having Chaired the Quinte United Way Campaign, serving on many area Boards and Fundraising committees during his career.
Anderson plans to have a renewed focus this term on Community Development, Health Care, Accessibility, Safe Roads, Tourism and Municipal Infrastructure.

Councillor Anne Butwell
Anne was first elected in 2022 as a municipal councillor in Brighton, where she is committed to ensuring accessible government for all residents. Along with her role as a councillor, Anne brings extensive Operations Management experience from her nearly 20 years with a Federal Port Authority, and also runs a successful real estate business in Brighton. As a community-minded individual, Anne regularly volunteers in schools, sponsors free family skating events, and supports various local causes and organizations through her time and financial contributions. In addition to her professional pursuits, Anne is also a wife and a mom, balancing her role in the community and her family life with equal dedication. She lives with her husband Don, and their two children, Molly and Colton. |

Councillor Byron Faretis
Byron spent 25 years in the food and beverage industry in various positions of increasing responsibility and served a number of terms as President of the Canadian Industrial Sweetener Association advocating for it’s members interests and concerns to all levels of Government on international trade and agricultural policy. After leaving the food and beverage industry, Byron started his own graphics business which he operated successfully for 18 years.
He then sold the business and moved to Wilmot Creek a community of 1,000 land-lease homes and 1800 residents. He was elected President of the Homeowner’s Association and was responsible for dealing with the property manager on deficiencies in services and infrastructure.
Based on the management, strategic planning, financial and inter-personal skills he has honed over the course of his career, Byron believes that by working with his Council colleagues that he can make a significant and positive contribution for the residents of Brighton by representing their interests and concerns as the community moves forward.

Councillor Emily Rowley
Emily Rowley is excited to begin her fourth Council term. A lifelong Brighton resident, getting involved in her community has been an evolvement that began with volunteering with local charities and committees that lead her to seek a place around the Council table. She is looking forward to working with a new team that will bring new perspectives and ideas to move Brighton forward.

Councillor Jeff Wheeldon
Jeff Wheeldon has lived in Brighton since 2016. He has been involved in politics at every level, from community organizing to federal Shadow Cabinet, but feels most passionate about contributing to the common life of his own community. He is a co-founder of Community Driven Strategies, a social enterprise aimed at helping communities collaborate to create solutions to complex problems, and he has worked as a Realtor in Brighton since 2018. He holds a Master of Arts in Systematic Theology, still writes occasionally for academic journals, and frequently blogs on his website and writes columns in local publications. He's blessed with a brilliant wife and two imaginative children.

Councillor Bobbi Wright
Bobbi Wright was born and raised in Brighton and is proud to call Brighton her hometown. Bobbi is a children’s author and entrepreneur who owns The Birdhouse Nature Store in the downtown area. She is very much looking forward to listening and learning to assist Brighton in the years ahead. Bobbi lives with her retired husband, Andrew Reid, her daughters and two goofy golden retrievers. She loves living in Brighton being surrounded by the nature that Northumberland County and Presqu’ile Provincial Park offer.
