2025 Applefest Applications Are Now Open

The Applefest Advisory Committee is pleased to announce that applications for 2025 Vendor spots are now open. 

Apply to be apart of this award-winning festival by completing the application form here: https://www.brighton.ca/.../applefest-applications.aspx. Applications are also available in hard copy format at the Municipal Centre, located at 35 Alice Street in Brighton.

The application intake period runs from April 1 to June 1.

Please note: Priority will be given to local vendors (i.e., vendors based out of Northumberland, Hastings or Prince Edward County). We remind vendors that Applefest is a curated event, and while we appreciate all that apply, only those who are successful in securing a booth space will be contacted.

About the festival: The Applefest Advisory Committee, along with community partners, will host a variety of events from Thursday, September 25, to Sunday, September 28 , throughout Downtown Brighton, Brighton Public School, Codrington Farmers Market, and King Edward Park. Events will include a Street Fair on Main St., ‘Music in the Park’ in Memorial Park, a Children’s Village, and a vintage car show.

Municipality of Brighton Declares Significant Weather Event

As of 8:10 am March 30, 2025, The Municipality of Brighton is  declaring a “Significant Weather Event” in accordance with Ontario Regulation 366/18 s.8.  Municipal Act 2001.

Due to the current and forecasted weather conditions, there has been excessive amounts of ice accumulation on roadways with addition of down trees across the municipality. These conditions are anticipated to make it impractical to maintain safe road surfaces in line with our level of service, Minimum Maintenance Standards.  Until the official declaration of the “END” of the Significant Weather Event.

Staff will :

  • Monitor road conditions and weather patterns
  • Remove down trees across the municipality and open roads, prioritizing higher-risk areas.
  • Apply materials to the roads i.e. salt, sand/salt.
  • Keeping communication open with updates to Hydro One, Fire Dept, OPP, Bell.

The declaration of this significant weather event will remain in effect until conditions improve to the point where it is practical to return to routine roadway maintenance standards (MMS). At that time, an official communication will be issued to declare the “End of the Significant Weather Event” We encourage all roadways users to exercise caution during this time. Please adjust your driving to reflect the conditions of the road.

2025 Federal Election - Voter Information
The Federal Election day is April 28, 2025.
 
Elections Canada is where you can find information on Voter Registration, ways to vote, and voter information services.
 
Important Dates:
March 23 - Election Canada offices open. You can vote early at any of these locations before Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m. The Voting Locations will soon be available on the Elections Canada Website.
 
April 9 - Complete list of candidates running in your riding released
 
April 11- Last day to confirm, update or add your voter information to the Register to receive your voter information card in the mail
 
April 18 to 21 - Advance polling stations are open from 9:00 a.m. To 9:00 p.m. The address of your assigned polling place will be on the voter information card that you will receive in the mail. You can also find the address on the Elections Canada website after April 1.
 
April 22 - Last Day to apply to vote by mail
 
April 28 - Election Day
