Volunteer Recognition Event

Nominate an outstanding Citizen for the Community Service Excellence Award!

The Community Service Excellence Award (formerly the Citizen of the Year Award) is presented each year to "an all-round outstanding resident who has gone above and beyond in contributing to the well-being of our municipality and its members for multiple years".

If you know a resident who makes Brighton a better place to live, work, and, play through their efforts, please consider nominating them to be recognized!

Nominations can be completed...

through the online form or,

in-person at the Municipal Centre located at 35 Alice Street during regular business hours

Please note: All nominations are due by March 25th at 12pm. For eligibility requirements, please see the Nomination Forms. All nominees will be invited to attend the Municipality of Brighton's Volunteer Recognition Event on May 1st, 2025 at the Owen Gibb Community Hall. Members of local volunteer-based groups are encouraged to attend this FREE recognition event. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning April 8th. Stay tuned for more details!

About the Award

The Municipality of Brighton has recently renamed the Citizen of the Year Award to the Community Service Excellence Award. This change was endorsed by the Community Events Committee and approved by Council as part of a larger review and restructuring of the program to encourage more participation among residents.

Further changes to the award program include a second layer of recognition which has been added to capture the range of volunteerism in Brighton - from doing a single good deed to a lifetime dedicated to serving the community. Spirit of Service Awards will be selected by the Community Events Committee from the pool of Community Service Excellence Award nominees who are not chosen to be the recipient of the Community Service Excellence Award.

Please note: The first hour of the Career Fair (2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.) is reserved for students only. Parking in the school lots is not available until 3:00 p.m. when the Career Fair opens to everyone.

The Shed is now closed for the 2024 season. We look forward to welcoming our vendors and patrons in 2025!

After a successful opening season last year, we are thrilled to announce that The Shed is BACK for another summer season!

Located in the recently revamped ball canteen, The Shed offers 3 modular vendor spots for local artisans to display their incredible goods. Vendors alternate every 2 weeks, ensuring a fresh shopping experience every time!

Teddy Maker Mobile offers the ultimate plush experience. At Teddy Maker Mobile, customers are offered the magical experience of creating their very own customizable teddy bear or plush toy. With over 25 different furry friends to choose from and a rainbow of outfits and accessories, you can create a one-of-a-kind companion that is uniquely yours.
Print3D brings with them a world of colour and creativity! Discover adorable keychains, stylish earrings, stunning candle and plant holders, and captivating home decors pieces.Owners and locals, Scott and Darlene are able to turn everyday items into unique artistry by adding a touch of creativity and charm from their innovative 3D printed technology.

Jig-Sea Beach Glass showcases beachcombing treasures hand picked by Self-proclaimed beach and sea glass enthusiast, Roberta Albert. Each project starts with Roberta drawing inspiration from pieces of glass she has collected from shores across Northumberland and around the world. She then combines other beachcombed items, curating art that preserves the natural shape and colour of the glass. At Jig-Sea Beach Glass, each item is truly unique and special.Whether you are looking for a necklace, a jewelry dish made of shells, or even home decor, Jig-Sea Beach Glass has something for everyone who appreciates the uniqueness and beauty of the sea.

Hoselton Studio Ltd creates stunning handcrafted sculptures made from aluminum, acrylic, wood, and stone. Alongside their beautiful art pieces, they will also be selling handmade Northumberland souvenirs, ideal for those searching for a one-of-a-kind piece of Brighton. Hoselton also carries a selection of made-in-Canada products and goods like Sprucewood Handmade Cookie Company’s gourmet cookies, Artburn Magic Painting Kits’ art projects for kids, Manba's Gourmet Peanut Butter, The Scented Market’s candles and scented sprays, and Millies Gourmet soups and seasonings.

Municipality of Brighton Information Booth will offer FREE recycling bin lids as well as valuable information on local insights and fun souvenirs and other tourism items, perfect for residents and visitors.

Applefest- Annual fall festival

Explore the vibrant Street Fair for handcrafted treasures from talents artisans, support small business owners with their unique offerings, and savour the delicious treats from a variety of local food vendors.

Rev up your excitement at the Car Show! Admire classic cars, old tractors and trucks, and vintage beauties while enjoying delicious treats from the food vendors nearby.

Get ready for endless fun at the Children's Village! Let the little ones explore oversized games and giant inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, and other exciting activities tailored just for them!

While you're enjoying all of the Applefest fun, don't miss out on the live music from talented local artists right in Memorial Park, Downtown Brighton.
