Date: Saturday, August 23 - Sunday, August 24 Time: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Location: Across the Municipality of Brighton Event Details: Brighton is excited to hold community-wide Curbside Giveaway Days once again! There is NO registration required simply set out any unwanted but still usable items on your curbside that you’re willing to giveaway for FREE! If you don’t have anything to giveaway, you’re still free to explore Brighton and collect what others have placed on their curbs. Giveaway days are the perfect opportunity for students seeking items for their dorms or new apartments, families for back to school season, or to clear out some clutter before the fall season. Ensure items placed at the curb do not block roadways, driveways, pedestrian, or cycling areas. If you're parking to browse items, please ensure you are not blocking driveways or roads in a way that prohibits emergency vehicles access. Consider giving any leftover items to local thrift stores if they’re accepting donations! |

Brighton is proud to host the much-anticipated Barns2Beaches Music Tour on Friday, August 8, 2025, at Memorial Park, featuring unforgettable performances by Canada’s rising music stars. This free, outdoor musical event makes the perfect outing for families and music enthusiasts alike. The event opens at 5:00 p.m., allowing guests time to find their seats, grab a bite to eat from our food vendors, and enjoy a performance by the opening act, Carl Cotton. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., Jules McCools, and the Barns2Beaches artists will take the stage. The tour is hosted in partnership with the Canadian Musicians Co-Operative, and generously sponsored by the Bay of Quinte Regional Marketing Board, Brighton DBIA, Gordon Tobey Developments, Mistral Communities, MIX 97, and Multi Tech Audio Visual. T&R is a guitar and vocal duo from Brighton who have been performing together for two years. Their setlist is eclectic, leaning towards folk, country and roots music. Their performances are energetic and brimming with vocal harmony.

Join us for Canada Day festivities and celebrate our country with pride on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in King Edward Park!
Check out the fun-filled activities we have planned...
8:00 a.m. - Pancake breakfast
10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - Enjoy FREE family friendly activities including bouncy castles, balloon twisting, face painting, live entertainment, and food vendors!
10:45 a.m. - Parade procession and opening ceremonies will begin followed by complimentary cake to celebrate
7:30 p.m. - Live entertainment until fireworks by Firebush
10:00 p.m. - Bring a cozy blanket or a chair and enjoy a spectacular fireworks show

| Heritage and History Hunt |

Date: Friday, May 16 - Sunday, August 31 Location: Across Municipality of Brighton, see digital map for more details Event Details: During this Heritage and History Hunt you’ll travel to historic sites throughout the municipality to uncover stories on events, locations, families, and industries that have significantly shaped Brighton as we know it today!
How to participate: Step 1: Pick-up or Download and Print a Clue Card Clue Cards can be picked up at the following locations during regular business hours:
You can also download and print a Clue Card by clicking here!
Step 2: Find the Plaques Using the Clue Card as your guide, find and visit at least 15 historical plaques within Brighton. Approximate locations of the plaques are in italics beneath the bolded title of each plaque on the Clue Card. More precise locations are available using the digital map.
REMEMBER, you don’t have to visit all the locations in one day, you only need 15 secret symbols and correct answers to receive a prize.
Step 3: Answer Historical Questions When you find a historical plaque read through the information and record the answer to the question from the Clue Card in the appropriate location. All necessary information can be found on the plaque. You must find and record 15 correct answers to receive a prize.
Step 4: Locate the Secret Symbol To confirm you have visited the sites you must also find and record the ‘Secret Symbol,’ on the bright pink paper located somewhere on the plaque. Make sure to record your answer in the appropriate spot on the Clue Card!
Step 5: Receive a Prize Once you have completed at least 15 questions and recorded their secret symbols you can redeem the Clue Card for the following prizes at participating businesses:

Event Details: The Brighton Accessibility Advisory Committee is pleased to join communities across Canada in recognizing National AccessAbility Week, a week dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of inclusion for people living with disabilities. The committee invites residents to participate in a series of interactive activities on May 30, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Downtown Brighton. The activities include navigating businesses, crossing streets, and using accessible public transit to better understand the importance of accessibility in our community. The Accessibility Advisory Committee is committed to fostering an inclusive community by advocating for people with disabilities and ensuring there is equal access to opportunities in the municipality. |
| Love Local Week in Brighton |

Event Details: The Municipality of Brighton's Council has declared April 14th to 19th as 'Love Local Week'. During this week, residents are encouraged to show our local businesses some love by shopping locally. To further encourage residents to support local, the Municipality of Brighton's Economic Development Department has partnered with the DBIA to create tote bags that feature 'Love Local' branding. These bags are available at select retail locations across the Municipality of Brighton during Love Local Week. Bags will be distributed to customers of these businesses on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. There is a limit of one bag per customer. Keep the County Clean Challenge Event Details: Join us in putting waste in its place during the 15th annual Mayor's Keep the County Clean Challenge!

Supplies for this event will be available for pick-up beginning April 14th at the locations listed above. Please take what you need and return what you don't use.
Community Clean Up Details: On the final day of the Keep the County Clean Challenge we invite you to join us in bashing some trash in Brighton's Downtown. Starting in Memorial Park, participants will be given supplies and a location to clean up within walking distance. A great opportunity to get involved, meet new people and earn community service hours!

| Volunteer Recognition Event |

Date(s): A Volunteer Recognition Event will be held on May 1, 2025. Location: Owen Gibb Community Hall, 75 Elizabeth Street.
Event Details: The Municipality of Brighton is honoured to recognize the dedicated community volunteers at our annual Brighton Volunteer Recognition Event. Fellow Volunteers are invited to join elected officials on May 1 at the Owen Gibb Community Hall to celebrate those who selflessly share their time, empathy and experience to improve the well-being of our community. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the 2025 Brighton Community Service Excellence Award, a prestigious award that honours individuals who have made a significant impact in our municipality and its members. To further acknowledge the diverse range of volunteerism in our community, the “Spirit of Service” awards will also be presented to each nominated volunteer. Complimentary tickets for community volunteers are now available on a first-come first served basis. Tickets can be reserved through the Municipal website or by phoning the Municipal Office at 613-475-0670. Doors will open at 5:00 p.m. and the evening will officially begin at 5:30 p.m. with speeches, light refreshments, and awards. The event is proudly hosted during National Volunteer Week 2025, a week to highlight volunteer contributions and their positive impacts on society.

| Valentine's Day Civil Marriage Ceremony Special |

Date: February 14, 2025 between 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Location: Council Chambers, 35 Alice Street.
Details: Calling All Couples! Make this Valentine's Day one to remember by tying the knot! To celebrate the day of love, we are offering special pricing on our Civil Marriage ceremonies on Valentine's Day. For one day only get married for the special price of $214 (regularly $350)! Civil Marriage Ceremonies will be performed by the Municipal Clerk in Council Chambers between 9:30am and 2:30pm on Friday, February 14 with 30 minutes allotted for each ceremony. Ceremony timeslots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Please note: a Marriage License is required for a fee of $125 before the ceremony can be booked, and both parties will be required to meet with the officiant at least 1 week prior to the marriage.
