The Proctor House Museum

The Brighton Barn Theatre:

 

The Brighton Barn Theatre is located in the Proctor-Simpson Barn, behind the Proctor House Museum. Wheelchair accessible and air conditioned, this reconstructed barn has a 125-seat theatre.

Brighton Digital Archives

 

Launched as a volunteer team in 2015, the Brighton Digital Archives (BDA) is dedicated to the identification, collection, digitization, and presentation of Brighton’s history and heritage. Through an active website and Facebook page, the BDA shares Brighton’s past, including documents, deeds, photos, postcards, and maps. 

All original documents are provided to the BDA as a temporary loan, digitized, and returned to the owner. On several occasions, the BDA has assisted with donations of maps, deeds, and photos to the Municipality of Brighton.

Brighton Heritage Plaques

 

Brighton’s heritage plaques highlight the stories, people, and places that have shaped our community’s rich history. Explore the locations and learn more about Brighton’s past by viewing the heritage plaque map.

A year-round destination on the shores of Lake Ontario, Presqu'ile Provincial Park offers visitors the perfect blend of nature, recreation, and history. Explore over 300 campsites, a 2.5 km sandy beach, more than 16 km of trails, and a 1 km marsh boardwalk while discovering the park’s unique ecosystems and incredible bird migration.

Home to one of Brighton’s most recognizable landmarks, the Presqu'ile Point Lighthouse has guided ships along Lake Ontario’s north shore since 1840 and remains one of Ontario’s oldest operating lighthouses. Visitors can learn more about the park’s natural and cultural history at the Lighthouse Interpretive Centre and Nature Centre, open seasonally.

The community of Brighton, in eastern Ontario, is surrounded by rich agricultural land with an abundance of apple orchards and roadside farmers' stalls. To bear witness to the bountiful apple harvest at the height of the harvesting season, Brighton celebrates its annual Applefest festival over the last full weekend of September.

Applefest features a lively street fair with artisan vendors lining Main Street, a classic car show showcasing vehicles of all years, makes, and models, and a children’s village offering hands-on activities for all ages.
