Development Charges
Development Charges are collected from developers for any new building within the municipality. Legislation for collected these fees are found in the Development Charges Act, 1997
A Development Charges By-law may only be adopted after a municipality undertakes a Development Charges Study. A Development Charges By-law may only be in effect for five years.
The current Municipality of Brighton Development Charges By-law was adopted in January 2025. The Development Charges By-law for The Municipality of Brighton also has a provision for annual indexing of the fees. The Development Charges Study and By-law are found below.
