Protect Your Privacy

Voting System Safety and Security
The Municipality will conduct the election using Simply Voting's internet voting system.
The system uses encryption to protect voter information and ballots, and ballot data is stored separately from voter identity information to maintain ballot secrecy.
In addition to these privacy safeguards, the system includes multiple layers of security, redundancy, and monitoring to protect against unauthorized access and service disruptions. It is also subject to independent security testing and auditing, with safeguards in place to protect the integrity of the voting process.
Simply Voting also participated in the Technical Committee that developed Canada’s CAN/DGSI 111-1:2024 standard for online electoral voting and has implemented the mandatory requirements applicable to its voting system.
In addition to the safeguards provided by the voting system, the Municipality conducts Logic and Accuracy testing before voting begins to confirm that the election has been configured correctly and that votes are recorded and counted as intended, and has an auditor in place throughout the voting period.
Contingency Plan
A contingency plan helps ensure an election can continue smoothly and maintain voter confidence when unexpected events occur. Whether facing technology disruptions, severe weather, facility issues, staffing shortages, or other unforeseen challenges, having backup procedures in place allows election administrators to respond quickly and effectively.
By identifying potential risks, establishing clear communication channels, and preparing alternative processes, organizations can help protect the integrity, accessibility, and continuity of the election while minimizing disruption for voters and stakeholders.
