The Municipality of Brighton provides municipal water and wastewater services within the Municipality's urban serviced boundary. This page provides information on utility billing, municipal water and wastewater connections, and the Municipality's Bulk Water Station.

Water and wastewater bills are issued quarterly, with payment due at the end of January, April, July, and October.

Payment Options

Payments may be made by:

·         Cash, cheque, or debit at the Administration Office (35 Alice Street)

·         Secure drop box at the Administration Office

·         Online banking or telephone banking

·         Through your financial institution

·         Pre-authorized payment (automatic withdrawl)

eBilling

Receive your water and wastewater bill by email instead of regular mail by completing the eBilling Consent Form.

Credit Card Payments

The Municipality of Brighton does not accept credit card payments directly for water and wastewater bills.

Credit card payments may be made through a third-party online payment provider such as PaySimply. Please note:

·         PaySimply is an independent service provider and is not affiliated with the Municipality.

·         Service fees and credit card restrictions may apply.

·         The Municipality receives only the amount of the water and wastewater bill.

·         Payments are credited to your account when funds are received by the Municipality, which may take several business days. Please allow sufficient processing time to ensure payment is received before the due date.

Important Information

·         If you have not received your water and wastewater bill, please contact the Water & Wastewater Billing Clerk.

·         Payments received after the due date are subject to a 1.25% penalty, applied on the first day of each month to any outstanding balance.

·         The Municipality is not responsible for payments made to the incorrect account. Please verify your account number before submitting payment.

·         If you sell your property, please notify the Water & Wastewater Billing Clerk at utilitybilling@brighton.ca or complete the Property Ownership Change Form.

·         Fees may apply for:

o    Water and wastewater bill reprints

o    Payments applied to an incorrect account number

o    Transfer of outstanding water and wastewater charges to the tax roll

Water and wastewater charges are billed in accordance with the Municipality's Water & Wastewater Fees and Charges By-law. Collection of unpaid accounts is administered in accordance with the Municipality's Water & Wastewater Billing and Collection Policy.

Water & Wastewater Connections

The Municipality of Brighton provides municipal water and wastewater connections for new developments, property improvements, and service upgrades. Property owners, contractors, and developers are encouraged to contact the Municipality early in the planning process to discuss servicing requirements, applicable fees, and approval requirements.

Please note that all municipal water and wastewater connections must be approved by the Municipality prior to construction.

Bulk Water Accounts

The Municipality of Brighton operates a Bulk Water Station for licensed water haulers, contractors, and authorized commercial users.

Bulk Water Station

The Municipality of Brighton operates a year-round Bulk Water Station that provides potable water for residents, contractors, licensed water haulers, and commercial users.

Public Coin-Operated Station

·         Open year-round

·         Accepts loonies, toonies, and quarters

·         Located inside the Bulk Water Station building

Connection Requirements

Users must provide their own:

·         1-inch hose

·         1-inch female camlock connector

These fittings are available from most local hardware suppliers.

Commercial Bulk Water Accounts

Commercial users and licensed water haulers can establish a Bulk Water Account for convenient electronic access to the station.

Account Features

·         Electronic key fob access

·         Quarterly billing

·         Commercial loading connection

·         Year-round access

A 3-inch male camlock connection is available for commercial water filling operations. New commercial customers are required to provide a security deposit when opening an account, in accordance with the Municipality's current fees and charges.

Opening a Commercial Account

To establish a commercial Bulk Water Account, please contact the Municipality. Staff will assist with:

·         New account registration

·         Account deposits and billing

·         Issuing or replacing key fobs

·         Bulk water rates and fees

·         Station operating instructions
