Fireworks
The Municipality of Brighton regulates the sale and use of consumer fireworks to help protect public safety and reduce the risk of injury, fire, and property damage. Please use fireworks responsibly and be considerate of your neighbours.
When Can Fireworks Be Set Off?
Consumer (family) fireworks may only be discharged on:
- Victoria Day
- Canada Day
- Labour Day
- New Year's Day
Fireworks may also be discharged during the three (3) days immediately preceding each of these holidays.
Fireworks Safety
When using consumer fireworks:
- You must be 18 years of age or older, or be under the direct supervision of an adult.
- Fireworks may only be discharged on private property with the permission of the property owner.
- Fireworks must be handled and discharged in a safe manner.
- Fireworks must not create a nuisance or pose a risk of injury, fire, or property damage.
- Fireworks are not permitted on streets, highways, parks, or other public property.
Selling Fireworks
The sale of consumer fireworks is only permitted during the seven (7) days immediately preceding, and on, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, and New Year's Day. Fireworks may not be sold or distributed to anyone under 18 years of age.
Fireworks Displays
Public or commercial fireworks displays require a permit issued by the Chief of the Brighton Fire Department. Additional safety requirements apply to all permitted displays.
