Kennel Licences
If you own or board more than three (3) dogs on your property, you may be required to obtain a Kennel Licence from the Municipality. Kennel licences help ensure that kennel operations are compatible with surrounding land uses and meet municipal standards for the safety and well-being of both animals and neighbouring residents.
Kennel licences are required before operating a kennel, are subject to an inspection prior to approval, and must be renewed annually. The Municipality offers two classes of kennel licences based on the number of dogs being kept:
- Class 1 Kennel Licence: More than 3 dogs, up to a maximum of 5 dogs.
- Class 2 Kennel Licence: More than 5 dogs.
Applicants must meet the requirements set out in Section 13 of the Animal Control By-law, including minimum setback distances, zoning requirements, and any additional conditions deemed necessary by the Municipality.
To apply for a Kennel Licence, please contact By-law Enforcement for more information.
Before You Apply
- Your property must comply with applicable zoning requirements.
