As of January 1, Ontario has transitioned to a new recycling service that allows Ontario residents to recycle the same materials at the curb, province wide, and recycle more materials in their blue box than before. This new system follows an extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework for blue box materials.
What does this means for Northumberland County residents?
- Province wide, recycling programs are now owned and operated by Circular Materials Ontario. Miller Waste will manage Northumberland County’s recycling program. For recycling inquires, container replacements, or collection pick-ups, please contact Miller Waste: area8@millerwaste.ca or 1-888-852-4723.
- How and when you set out your recycling will not change.
- More items will be accepted in the recycling program including: chip bags, wrappers, pet food bags, stand-up resealable plastic pouches, drink and food pouches, toothpaste tubes, deodorant sticks, styrofoam, bubble wrap, coffee cup lids and other takeout cup lids.
Northumberland County is responsible for garbage collection for the Municipality of Brighton. Please visit their website for information on bag tag vendors, wet waste limits and the bag tag vendor list or click the button below to purchase bag tags.
