Winter Operations Update - January 28, 2026
Our Public Works staff continue to clear roads, sidewalks, and parking lots following the recent snowfall event.
Snow removal in the Downtown core is scheduled to start Thursday January 29, weather and time permitting. Crews will start at Main Street from Prince Edward St. to Ontario St., then Elizabeth St. to John St., Mount Hope Cemetery to Sanford St., moving along to Prince Edward St. from Elizabeth St. to the Industrial Parkway.
Please use designated crosswalks when walking downtown for safety and to avoid snowbanks.
Although some regions in Ontario are experiencing salt shortages, the Municipality of Brighton does not anticipate service interruptions with our secure contractor. To ensure safe winter travel, our crews apply a sand/salt mixture on rural north end roads for better traction in colder conditions and low traffic areas, while using treated salt in urban areas to clear pavement more efficiently.
We thank the community for their cooperation and understanding during the winter operation season.
