Harbour Street Reconstruction (Edgewater Drive to Walas Street)
Project Summary
The Municipality of Brighton completed the reconstruction of Harbour Street between Edgewater Drive and Walas Street to improve stormwater management, replace aging underground infrastructure, enhance active transportation, and upgrade the roadway to current municipal standards. The final surface asphalt was completed in May 2026. The project scope included roadway reconstruction, installation of new municipal services, and the addition of a multi-use pathway to improve accessibility and connectivity.
The project included:Harbour Street
- Installation of a new storm sewer system and storm service laterals.
- Replacement of the existing watermain and water service laterals.
- Construction of new concrete curbs and gutters.
- Construction of a new 3.0 m wide asphalt multi-use pathway.
- Full roadway reconstruction, including granular road base replacement and new asphalt pavement.
- Driveway, boulevard, and landscaping restoration.
Engineering design was completed by Jewell Engineering as part of the Harbour, Walas, and Marina Infrastructure Program. Following a competitive tender process, construction commenced in 2025, with the final surface asphalt completed in May 2026.
