Reservoir Trail Construction
Project Summary
The Municipality of Brighton completed the construction of the Reservoir Trail in September 2023 to expand the community's trail network and improve connectivity between the Castle Ridge neighbourhood and County Road 30. The trail was designed to provide residents with a scenic, low-impact recreational experience while showcasing the natural landscape surrounding the Castle Ridge stormwater management pond and adjacent woodland. The alignment follows the site's existing topography, minimizing environmental impacts while creating a sustainable trail that integrates with the surrounding natural environment.
The project included:
- Construction of a new Reservoir Loop Trail.
- Installation of a compacted crushed limestone trail surface.
- Tree clearing and hazard tree removal within the trail corridor while minimizing impacts to the surrounding woodland.
- Trail grading and drainage improvements to provide a durable, low-maintenance recreational facility.
The completed Reservoir Trail provides an additional active recreation facility within the Municipality, improving trail connectivity and expanding opportunities for walking, hiking, and outdoor recreation while preserving the natural character of the area.
