Veterans Way Municipal Parking Lot
Project Purpose
Asphalt resurfacing and a new storm sewer at the municipal parking lot east of Veterans Way (adjacent to Sobeys, Brighton).
Project Management
The municipality hired Greer Galloway Limited to provide survey and engineering design of the existing site conditions. Municipal engineering staff finalized engineering design, tendering, inspection, and contract administration. Line Painting was completed by Brighton Public Works Operations Services.
Mainline Sewer and Watermain Ltd. was awarded construction through competitive bidding. The project was completed within budget and on schedule in May 2023.

Project Scope
The project scope included the replacement of an existing storm sewer from north of Sanford Street to Veterans Way and the asphalt resurfacing of the municipal parking lot adjacent to Sobeys (14 Main Street Brighton). Areas of base material were replaced with new engineered granular. The existing 30-50mm thick asphalt was replaced by two lifts of 40mm asphalt.
Two 100mm electrical conduits were installed from Sanford Street to a parking lot island adjacent to Veterans Way for future electric vehicle charging stations.
What Residents can Expect
This project was completed in May 2023 within budget and on schedule.
Design accommodations were made for future electric vehicle charging stations located at the entrance island near Veterans Way. Staff are researching electric vehicle charging station costs and configurations for budget consideration.
