Young Street Sidewalk and Crosswalk

Project Summary

The Municipality of Brighton completed the Young Street Sidewalk and Crosswalk project in October 2023 to improve pedestrian safety, accessibility, and connectivity along Young Street to Neil Peart Lane. The project addressed a missing sidewalk connection and established a formal pedestrian crossing, providing a safer route for residents accessing nearby businesses, services, and municipal facilities.

The project included:

• Construction of approximately 115 metres of new concrete sidewalk.
• Installation of a new pedestrian crosswalk complete with tactile warning plates, accessible curb ramps, signage, and pavement markings.
• Construction of a new retaining wall and restoration of the adjacent private sidewalk.
• Driveway tie-ins and boulevard restoration.
• Minor curb and asphalt restoration to accommodate the new pedestrian facilities.
