The Municipality of Brighton is a lower tier municipality with a population of about 11,000 situated along Lake Ontario at the eastern end of Northumberland County. The community is a growing hub of unique craft and trade enterpreneurs, adult education, tourism and lifestyles. We are accepting applications for the following positions. Reporting to the Manager of Planning, Building and Community Development, the Economic Development Coordinator/Development Planner promotes the growth and development of the municpality's economic base and coordinates planning development applications.
The successful candidate possess a University Degree in either Urban Planning, Economic Development or related discipline combined with 2 to 3 years relevant experience in Land Use Planning or Economic Development. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills including courtesy, tact, discretion, grammar, and presentation skills and have the ability to apply your familiarity and experience with applicable legislation such as the Planning Act, Municipal Act, Official Plans, and Zoning By-laws. A general understanding of the principles and practices of local government, particularly as it applies to economic development plus skills in marketing and communications are required. You bring proven interpersonal and customer service skills, good planning, organizational and time management skills with proven problem solving and decision making ability to the position. A valid Class G drivers license, access to a reliable vehicle and clean criminal records check are job requirments.
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week and attendance at some evening meetings.
Pay Rate: CUPE Band 15, Start rate $28.47/hour

Reporting the Department Manager, the Administrative Assistant provides secretarial and clerical support for the the Planning, Building and By-law divisions.
The successful candidiate has completed post-secondary education in Land Use Planning, Building, Architectural Technology or related studies, or a combination of education and 1 year practical training in a municipal Building and Planning office which includes processing building permits and applying your knowledge of applicable legislation such as the Ontario Building Code and Planning Act. You possess superior public relations, communications and organizational skills with the ability to apply the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act with tact and diplomacy. You use initiative and can work under pressure to meet deadlines in a team environment. You possess excellent working knowledge of a variety of computer applications including MS Word, Excel, WebGIS, Cityworks, CivicWeb, ArcMap and Web site maintenance. A valid Class "G" driver’s licence and clean criminal records check are a condition of employment.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Manager of Public Works and Environment is responsible for the overall administration and management of the municipal water, wastewater and roads infrastructure divisions, including Public Works and Environment, maintenance and capital works activities in accordance with municipal policies, provincial regulations and other governing legislation. You will ensure the timely preparation of the department’s annual operating and capital budgets in conjunction with long term capital plans. Building teamwork and cohesion for personnel throughout the department will be an important part of this role.
The preferred candidate will have a Degree or Diploma in Civil/Environmental Engineering with AORS Certified Road Superintendent (CRS-1) designation or an equivalent of experience and training. A minimum of 5 years progressive management experience in Public Works and Environment within municipal infrastructure is required. As well, you will possess working knowledge of all applicable legislation and regulatory regimes combined with strong leadership skills, excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to make sound decisions.
2018 Salary Range: Grade 20, $80,839. - $100,319. annually complemented by a generous benefit package.

Reporting to the Manager of Capital Infrastructure, the successful candidate will monitor construction projects for progress and compliance with the approved design, applicable standards, specifications and Codes.
You possess a college Diploma in Civil Engineering or Architectural Technology and 3 years' experience in a construction enviornment . Knowledge of OPSS, OPSD, Ontario Building Code, Provincial Offences Act and municpal by-laws and standards, the Planning Act, Official Plan, zoning by-laws and minor variance matters are required. You are certified as a Building Code Official to inspect plumbing; house, HVAC-House and small buildings. You are phyically fit and possess a valid class G drivers licence to conduct site inspections and complaints in all weather conditons.
Salary CUPE Grade 11 start rate $23.19/hour, 40 hours per week
