Director of Municipal Infrastructure, Operations & Recreation (Permanent, Full-Time) |
The Municipality is currently seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to fill the position of Director of Municipal Infrastructure, Operations & Recreation. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Director of Municipal Infrastructure, Operations & Recreation is responsible for developing and administering strategic priorities, policies and objectives for the efficient management of the capital infrastructure, environmental services, operations, and parks and recreation departments. The Director oversees asset management, large capital projects, and participates in future long-term planning. The Director is an integral part of the Senior Management Team and performs a variety of leadership, supervisory, administrative, and technical duties. The role is responsible for the planning, coordinating, operating, and efficiency of the department as well as anticipating and maintaining the necessary regulatory compliance and reporting on behalf of the Municipality. The Director requires considerable exercise of independent judgement in accordance with any applicable legislation and corporate policy. As a strategic leader, the Director provides professional guidance to Council on all matters related to the department, ensuring responsible decision making and facilitating the implementation of Council direction. The Director ensures that corporate policies are adhered to, legislative requirements are met, budget is maintained, and performance targets achieved while making key departmental policies and decisions. A trustworthy people-leader, the Director will inspire a talented workforce to meet the operational and strategic goals of the department and Municipality as a whole. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Civil Engineering or relevant education combined with a minimum eight (8) years’ experience in progressive leadership roles within municipal government, leading a multi-divisional unit. A licensed Professional Engineer’s license is considered an asset. Experience leading in a unionized environment is required. You have sound and proven management experience with responsibilities for leadership and direction of operations, strategic business planning, budgeting, fiscal accountability/sustainability, innovation, and human resource management. You possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the political acumen to foster effective working relationships with all staff, external partners, Council and residents with a focus on customer service excellence. Total compensation for the Director of Municipal Infrastructure, Operations & Recreation includes an annual salary between $126,930 to $148,489, commensurate with qualifications and experience, a generous benefits package covered 100% by the Municipality, flexible work hours, and participation in the OMERS pension plan.
